For developers, Plaid is free to use in the Sandbox environment, allowing you to discover the product, become familiar with our APIs and endpoints, and learn how the platform works.
For Plaid teams in the US and Canada created on or after April 15, 2026, Plaid also offers a free Trial plan, which lets you use Plaid with real production data at no cost. Trial plans support up to 10 Production Items and provide access to most OAuth institutions — including Bank of America, Chase, and Wells Fargo — prior to full Production approval. Some institutions may require additional steps to connect; if you encounter an issue with a specific institution, refer to our documentation or check the Help Center. To create additional Items beyond the 10-Item limit, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
For Plaid teams created before April 15, 2026, many Plaid products are available for free access on a limited basis in Production via Limited Production, to allow you to test with live data before committing to Plaid. For more details, see Testing With Live Data in Limited Production.
Plaid is also free for consumers (end users). We don't charge consumers for our services.
