A passkey is a digital credential which enables a user to sign in to a website or application using their device’s biometrics or pin (instead of a password). Passkeys are tied to a user’s iCloud keychain and a specific website or application, which makes them difficult to replicate or steal.
In 2024, Plaid introduced passkeys for iOS devices to provide enhanced security for users and a simplified authentication experience. In Plaid Link, users have the option to enable and use their passkeys to link their previously connected accounts to more apps or services on the Plaid Network.
To enable passkeys for your users, please upgrade to the latest version of the Plaid iOS or React Native SDKs. Once you’ve upgraded to a supported SDK, passkeys will automatically be enabled for your users with iOS devices.
