Institution-wide issues

Current API

Please follow these steps if you are observing ten or more failed requests—such as erroneous Invalid Credentials errors or continually rejected MFA submissions—over a 24-hour period for a given institution.

1. Check Plaid's status and longtail status pages. If the offending institution is noted there, Plaid is actively working to resolve the underlying problem. Once we have resolved the issue, the relevant status will turn green:

Please wait until the issue has been resolved before reattempting requests. If you continue to experience issues and the institution is not noted on either status page, proceed to the steps below.

Note: When an issue has been resolved, Plaid will automatically resume transaction updates for the affected institution.

2. Please have users log-in to verify that the credentials they are submitting through Plaid are correct. Also, double-check that they are authenticating with the correct institution; some institutions have similar names but different institution types.

3. If users have verified they are using the right credentials with the right institution, but are still receiving errors, please file a case in the Dashboard under Financial institutions and data.

1. Check Plaid's status and longtail status pages. If the institution you're having an issue with is noted there, Plaid is actively working to resolve the underlying problem. Once we have resolved the issue, the status page update will turn 'green':

Requests sent before the issue has been resolved may fail. Please wait until the issue has been resolved, and reattempt the request, then. If it fails again and the institution is not noted on either status page, proceed to the steps below.

Note: When an issue has been resolved, Plaid will automatically resume transaction updates for the affected institution.

2. Please have users log-in online to verify that the credentials they are submitting through Plaid are correct. Also, double-check that they are authenticating with the correct institution: some institutions have similar names but different institution types.

3. If users have verified that they are using the right credentials with the right institution, but are still receiving errors, please file a case in the Dashboard :

If you're using Link, please include:
  • A general description of the problem.
  • An access_token or public_token, if available
  • The following three pieces of information, all of which are available from Link’s onExit callback:
    1. The pair of link_request_id and plaid_api_request_id for one or more of the failed requests.
    2. The error code being returned for those requests
    3. Institution type

Subject: Widespread 1203 Errors for Lucky Dog Bank

Starting on November 28, several API requests for Lucky Dog Bank failed, returning 1203 errors, despite users verifying through their bank’s website that their MFA responses are correct. The errors are impacting about 5 users and haven’t succeeded after a retry.
